As part of a cost cutting proposal the hospital where I work are looking at training our staff in PMA/CRT in house. I have been asked to look into it with a view of delivering a course in the near future. I cannot find anywhere what accreditation is required to deliver such training to satisfy the HSE & NHSLA .
Also could anyone give me details of accredited 'train the trainers' providers who specialise in the healthcare industry. Many thanks in advance. P |

It is alarming that many mental health units have made a decision to remove the option of seclusion in the narrow belief that if its available it will be overused. Although seclusion is a procedure for containing immediate violence, it is more often a much safer alternative than prolonged periods of hands on restraint, particularly if there is an abundance of other risk factors present. In many cases, seclusion offers a physically safer approach but the Mental health code of practice fails to recognise this as an issue.
